We Welcome a New Brother

We welcome a new brother in the Kingdom of God!

Our new brother is Yi Xiong, fruit of our brother Jeremiah.

Jeremiah recounted the story of how unfaithful he was when evangalizing in Ang Mo Kio. There he met Yi Xiong.

At first Yi Xiong wasn't very keen in attending church because he felt it to be so far away. I remember in the car with Raymond when Jeremiah told us about Yi Xiong's problem. Raymond suggested that Jeremiah invite Yi Xiong instead to study the Bible. Suprisingly, Yi Xiong was open about it.

It was through perserverance, desire to save someone, and God's faithfulness that Jeremiah is able to baptize Yi Xiong on March 30, 2008.

From us in the North east, welcome to the Kingdom brother!

Reflections from Gideon Lu

Hi all,

I would like to share my insights from John 5:19-21

Jesus gave them this answer: "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these. For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it..."

I imagine myself as Son of God because we are all Children of God, created in his image. My Heavenly Father loves me as his son and will show me all that he does and what I should do. Yes, God has show me many amazing things, sometimes without me asking for it. God has always show me bible, people, events, ideas, etc to tell me something. The "shows" from God are truly amazing, God may even design them for me just like watching movies! I cannot revive the dead which only God can do but I can revive the livings who are as good as dead. The dead may refer to people who are stuck in their past, no hopes for future, or simply people who are as good as 'dead'. I am very blessed to be able to see and receive what God wants to tell me, and the life that God give through Jesus which many people cannot see and feel. God choose to give this life to me and he wants me to share this gift or life to others as well.

Church Humor – God does have a sense of humor…

There was a church that had problems with outsiders parking in its parking lots, so they put up a sign:

CHURCH CAR PARK - FOR MEMBERS ONLY
Trespassers will be baptized!"

CHURCH SIGN BOARDS:
"No God - No Peace"
"Know God - Know Peace."

"Free Trip to Heaven."
"Details Inside!"

"Try our Sundays."
"They're better than Dairy Queen's".

"Searching for a new look?"
"Have your faith lifted here!"

"People are like tea bags."
"You have to put them in hot water before you know how strong they are."

"Fight truth decay."
"Study the Bible daily."

"How will you spend eternity?"
"Smoking or Non-smoking?"

"Dusty Bibles lead to Dirty Lives."

"It is unlikely there'll be a reduction in the wages of sin."

"Do not wait for the hearse to take you to church."

"If you're headed in the wrong direction, God allows U-turns."

"If you don't like the way you were born, try being born again. "

"Looking at the way some people live, they ought to obtain eternal fire insurance soon."

"This is a ch_ _ ch."
"What is missing? - (U R)"

"In the dark?"
"Follow the Son."

"Running low on faith?"
"Step in for a fill-up."

"If you can't sleep, don't count sheep."
"Talk to the Shepherd."

"Come work for the Lord."
"The work is hard, the hours are long and the pay is low. But the retirement benefits are out of this world."

An ad for one Church has a picture of two hands holding stone tablets on
which the Ten Commandments are inscribed and a headline that reads,
"For fast, fast, fast relief, take two tablets."

When the restaurant next to another Church put out a big sign with red letters that said, "Open Sundays,"
the church reciprocated with its own message: "We are open on Sundays, too."

AND THE WINNER IS -

- ON THE PASTOR'S PARKING SPOT - "PASTOR'S SPOT"
"YOU PARK, YOU PREACH"

Hi NEs

It had been a year plus that we getting together with Cheshire Home residents. From not knowing them to now the residents knew you as friends and being part of their life as well as our life. I am amazed by how God has stretch out his mighty hand to plan such an opportunity for us to reach out to the needy as the result we may soften our heart to feel and to love. I felt the more we serve, the more our heart moved. At the same times, many of us have more joy after monthly visiting. Not just with the residents, but definitely is because of the great fellowship with brothers and sisters.

We are going to invite 30 residents to come and join us for the Easter Sunday Service on 23rd Mar 08, and we really needed a lot of helping hands from you guys to stand by our sides on taking part in different roles. Be it in the usher team, escort team, refreshment team, reaching out team or many others areas, surely each individual are able to contribute with your talent. Please kindly approach either me or Bernard to signup within next week.

I always convicted by:

2Corinthians9:12-13 “This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you are proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.”

1Corinthians12:4-6 “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit, There are different kinds of services, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.”

Through these two bible verses, we ought to know that whatever our works is through God and is Him that made all things possible and through the works that we committed, God glory revealed and men may know God.

Look at the joyful smile on residents’ faces in some pictures we took during our visit. Are you not felt joy in heart as well?

Just my though

Love
David Teo

Reflections from Andrew Oh

Dear brothers and sisters,

Just wanna share with you all something that I've learned today from my readings. I believe all of us knows the story when Peter denied Jesus three times. From the book of Luke it reads,

31"Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you[a] as wheat. 32But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers."
33But he replied, "Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death."
34Jesus answered, "I tell you, Peter, before the rooster crows today, you will deny three times that you know me."
and we skip to verse 54
54Then seizing him, they led him away and took him into the house of the high priest. Peter followed at a distance. 55But when they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had sat down together, Peter sat down with them. 56A servant girl saw him seated there in the firelight. She looked closely at him and said, "This man was with him."
57But he denied it. "Woman, I don't know him," he said.
58A little later someone else saw him and said, "You also are one of them."
"Man, I am not!" Peter replied.
59About an hour later another asserted, "Certainly this fellow was with him, for he is a Galilean."
60Peter replied, "Man, I don't know what you're talking about!" Just as he was speaking, the rooster crowed. 61The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: "Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times." 62And he went outside and wept bitterly.
I'm sure Peter did not mean to betray Jesus. We are talking about Peter, one of the closest disciples, the man whom Jesus hand the key of the Kingdom of heaven to, the very foundation God laid the foundation of the church. Yet God did not create man to be perfect and Jesus knows Peter's weaknesses like he knows ours.
Jesus knows that when given the right settings, even someone who always fought on Jesus' side would pretend not to know him. The night the situation was so "hostile" that Peter would immediately claimed to have nothing to do with Jesus when questioned. Do we have times in our lives that perhaps our speech, actions or our mind denies our Lord so easily that it became instinctive.
Perhaps it's when we are among pagans who practises the 'norm', the desire to stand up for Jesus becomes weaker and weaker. Or perhaps we feel that we are struggling alone, Satan told us lies about ourselves and about God that cast doubt in out beliefs.
Let us remember what Jesus told Peter before he sin and after he sin. Jesus prayed and pleaded for him to repent and turn to God, and when he is strengthened, he will build up the others. Jesus prayed this prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane for you and me. Let us be encouraged and turn back quickly to God when the rooster crows

Love
Andrew
